When can I start?
When can I start?
We can brainstorm most essays, complete the main Common Application Essay, plan for short/ long open ended questions, write your resume, and refine recommendations requests the summer prior to Senior Year.
Applications are usually published around the end of August, but generally are very similar from year to year…
How can I prepare for my session?
First Session:
You don’t necessarily have to do anything more than know your standardized test scores, the classes you have taken and the grades earned, and come with an open mind and your computer.
Filling out the forms will help cut down on session time. This information will help me to prepare for the session in advance and hone in on certain characteristics we should highlight. See Forms in this website.
For subsequent sessions
Make accounts to the universities to which you would like to apply.
Start applications
Organize a list of log-ins & passwords.
Advanced preparation at home to save time in sessions
Work on revisions at home & write a list of questions / comments to discuss
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Policy
I ask that all cancellations be by confirmed text message (I will write you back – if I don’t, call me.. please) and must be a minimum of 10 hours prior to when the session would have taken place. {I want to be able to schedule someone else if you cancel.}
Time Commitment
Time commitment
There is no mandatory time commitment. I work with you on an hourly basis.
I have worked with clients anywhere from 5 to 15 hours. They have worked on their own, as well, in both cases.
A typical session lasts from 2 to 4 hours. In this time we could complete 3-4 applications.
Essay revisions take around 1-3 hours, depending on the candidate.
Essay writing from scratch takes about 3-5 hours. Each draft adds about an hour. (Some of this time is spent at home unless you need consistent guidance).

My Philosophy
My Philosophy:
Applying to college does not have to be a four year process nor is it a package deal.
You cannot package a child for college.
It is not a mathematical equation; it is different for each candidate.
Each candidate is unique and will prove successful presenting him/herself honestly.
This is an exciting time in your life; the pressure does not have to suck the fun out of it.
Writing your college essay could be an innovative, cathartic, and inspirational time.
There is no need to fret writing more than one essay, although sometimes you are able to adapt your original essay to another topic or word count, other times you must write a new one. Either situation warrants a time commitment.
Your life experiences and personality, work in tandem with your grades and standardized test scores. They are all your positive attributes.
Having someone else write your essay compromises your application. (After 15 years as a high school teacher, I know how a 17/18 year old writes at a multitude of academic levels.. yours much match your credentials and experiences to act as a positive attribute in the application process)
The essay is an important part of this trilogy… It must be captivating, genuine, and let the reader know who you are and how you will fit into the University of your Choice….. in between the lines… IT IS NOT A RESUME but a carefully woven series of true narratives of your life experiences and reactions.
The essay and long answer selections act as your unspoken interview when you do not get one in person.
Honesty and integrity go a long way in a college application.
The right college for you is not necessarily the one that has the right name.. but the one in which you will be happiest, fit in, and thrive academically, socially, and financially. The admissions directors are looking to accept candidates who will stay at their college and graduate.
